A Spotless Rose

Saturday 28 November, 7.30pm

A Spotless Rose… choral tributes to the Virgin Mary. Cambridge Chorale returns to Great St Mary’s, the University Church, Cambridge, with a programme of beautiful, devotional choral music spanning the centuries.

Larger choral works taking centre stage include Brahms’s Marienlieder and Tallis’s Videte Miraculum, whilst smaller-scale works include Howells’s A Spotless Rose and Tchaikovsky’s Dostoino yest. The ladies’ and gentlemen’s voices are featured respectively in Verdi’s Laudi alla Vergine Maria and Palestrina’s Ave Maria; further devotional masterpieces by composers from England, Estonia, France, Germany and the USA complete this choral tribute.
